...from small seeds
mighty forests grow
I chose Cream Legbars (previously known as Crested Cream Legbars, or simply Crested Legbars) as my favourite blue egg laying chickens and find them a charming breed to keep. Cream Legbars are neat and clean looking with a sprightly air, and the lines I keep are quiet and friendly girls.
The Cream Legbar pullets are a soft speckled dove grey with an apricot bib, and their looks are enhanced by a jaunty little hat (officially called a crest) They have been selected to lay a pale powder blue egg, though Legbars can lay blue or green eggs. The Cream Legbar cockerels are silver grey with a lovely tail. Both have nice, clean looking yellow legs. The Official Poultry Club Standard can be read here CREAM LEGBARS
I find Cream Legbars economical to keep, but lay a nice sized and very pretty powder blue egg, and for a traditional breed are productive egg layers. I love the colour of the eggs when contrasted with other coloured eggs
